Halloween is tomorrow, so I wanted to put together my most favorite looks from this year. A few of them, my beautiful friends participated in. I'm not going to go in depth with this, just wanted to say good bye to Halloween with a look back at some of the past month (or more) work. Some being very detailed and time consuming others being easier that you think. Also wanted to tell you what products I used the most.
Left Row Top to Bottom Sketch Drawing: This was mainly black gel liner and Ben Nye Aqua Cake in white. It was relatively easy if you used a reference picture. Mermaid: My lovely friend Danielle participated in this one. It's a lot of "candy colors". Some in duo chromes and others just bright colors. Used a lot of Makeup Geek duo chromes, color hair spray, glued on pearls, and the Morphe 35S palette. Pop Art Zombie: This was hard. It was time consuming and tedious. It's also the one I'm most proud of. Lots of Ben Nye cream paints, gel liner, and lip liner. Center Row Top to Bottom Female Mad Hatter: This was fun and quite easy. I used white cream paint to make myself a lot more pale but I didn't make it indredibly opaque I let a little of my skin color show through. Lots of orange shadow, and also orange liquid lipstick from Colour Pop on my lips and brows. Green Contacts and white mascara. Angel or Fairy makeup: This was very easy and It seems like nothing but if I would've had an angel costume I would've been an angel for sure this Halloween. I literally sparkled all over. Using mainly Makeup Geek Duo Chrome Pigments and highlighters. The Undead: This was freaky. I used Ben Nye Thick Blood and Vampire Blood from Walmart. White face paint and black shadows. It was pretty easy because it's a "messy" look so you don't have to be very careful. Power Ranger: This I wish I could take credit for, my friends talked me into this look. One wanted me to do a power ranger, and one wanted me to do half the normal face and the other side the power ranger helmet to show how they have hidden identities. I used mainly Colour Pop Cosmetics lippie pencils for it. It takes a steady hand to draw out the lines. Other than that with a reference pic pulled up it was moderately easy. Right Row Top to Bottom Lisa Frank Puppy: This was very easy. I used mainly Colour Pop lip pencils for the spots. Ben Nye white face paint for the base. It was very very easy and different. The Corpse Bride: This was accomplished with the help of my friend Jamie who was willing to sit through this. It took quite a while. Using Ben Nye cream paint in blue for the base. Gel Liner for brows and detailing. White face paint for the eyes. Black shadows for contouring to hollow out the cheek bones and collar bones and around the temples. Cheshire Cat: This was just done last night. It wasn't time consuming but it wasn't very easy. I used Ben Nye purple cream paint, Colour Pop pencils and Makeup Geek purple shadows around the eyes and to contour. Gel Liner for the detailing, whiskers, and mouth. White Aqua Cake from Ben Nye to make the teeth. Cat contacts. As far as what I found I used the most. I was surprised. The things that worked the best was Colour Pop lippie pencils and they come in tons of colors. I really like Snazaroo face paints too. I used a lot of Ben Nye products as well. They wanted to sheer out a lot though. The Thick Blood was amazing and cool to work with. You can't keep messing with it because it separates on the skin so I found you had to goop it on really thick and let it dry some. Also NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are always a great option as well. Milk and Black Bean are must haves but they have every color under the sun too and very affordable. Don't disregard your eye shadows either they are very useful over a base especially. They're great on their own or to set different colors. So there you go. Happy Halloween! Have fun and BE SAFE!

The Sephora Friends and Family sale is fixing to begin. For VIB Rouge we get early access from the 6th to the 9th. It's the regular 20% off and the code will be "ROUGE20" for online purchases. This will only work if you are VIB Rouge. The store event will be the 5th 7-9pm first access for VIB Rouge. I don't know if the VIB's get access from the 6th-9th as well or if it'll be after. There usually is another code but I can't find it yet. I will update this post as soon as I do. I got my card the other day in the mail so the others should be arriving.
So I thought I would put together some things that would be a good buy, since you're getting 20% off. Some you've seen me talk about in previous posts as good gift ideas and what not but I just wanted to touch on those again and some other ones that are really spectacular. Not all of these are on my list. I actually have a very small list.
This is my final installment in Festive Looks for Halloween. This one is looks that incorporate black. This look above is a black and green halo eye.
This next look is a very dramatic harsh look.
The last look below, is a more glamorous look and my favorite.
I just recently got 5 of the new Matte shadows from Makeup Geek. Some reformulated previous colors, and some that are brand new. Let's have a look at them. The shades I got were:
Let's start with Mirage.
Mirage is a color from the Vegas Lights palette, and I believe it's been re-formulated as well. This is not entirely matte, it's a bit satin finish. Not shimmer just a slight sheen. It's a bone color. I use it on the brow bone to highlight. It doesn't give a super pale or white highlight, it's very subtle. This formula is so soft and creamy. It's crazy pigmented and blendable. I'm very impressed with it. Next is Sorbet. Sorbet is described as a peachy-pink shade, but I feel it's just a really pale pink. This is completely matte and in all honesty it's a bit dry compared to Mirage and some others. It still has wonderful pigment and pay off. It's barely noticeable in the crease which is good for a transition color. Peach Smoothie is more noticeable actually. Added to Cupcake it's a beautiful combination in the crease. Very glowy and pretty. Fuji Fuji is a re-formulated color. This is a lime apple green. It's not completely matte either. It has some soft flecks of gold in it as well as a slight satin sheen. It's very pigmented but I find that it works the best with a white base, that's when it's its truest color. It goes on evenly and smooth. Boo Berry This is described as a denim color. I think it's a little brighter than that. It's not hardly navy but it is a darker blue and it's still very bright on the lid. It's completely matte. I didn't think I would love this color but I do. It's very soft and smooth. This is great if you like blues. It also looks lovely when you use it with a black shadow because it's bright enough on it's own to be a beautiful gradient look that actually shows a fade of blue to black. Other shades like navys, just look black. Curfew This color is a medium toned grape/violet. It's completely matte and it's not a cool toned royal purple it's a true grape. This is a very smooth and soft color. It's a perfect shade of muted purple for the crease, lid, lower lash line, definition, etc. It's a very needful color. It's not plum or berry toned. I love it. I think this is one of those colors you definitely need in your palette especially if you like purple tones. I've used all these shades. They are all wonderful and I love them. I didn't get very many neutrals, as you know I love color. They have 20 shades in the new matte formula. They are regular price which is $6 a piece. As of right now they are caught up on orders so you should get them in a timely manner. I ordered mine on a Monday and got them on a Thursday. There are links on the side bar to Makeup Geek. If you're on the mobile site it will be at the bottom of the page. Some other shades I am interested in: Cherry Cola (brown based burgundy) Americano (cool toned brown) Morocco (orange) Vintage (taupe brown) Dragonfly (sea green/aqua/teal) Concrete Jungle (deep taupe) I recently got the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I got this from Ulta. It's $5.99 and it also comes in a two pack for $11.99. This is supposed to be the closest thing, or better than the Beauty Blender which is $20 a piece. I finally decided to try it. I think it's shape is interesting. It's mainly long and oval and has a flat side. Which is mainly it's selling point. It also has a point on the other end. It's not tapered like the point on the Beauty Blender though. Below is side by side comparisons. When they are damp and larger they are close in size. Sponges need to be replaced every 3 months, due to molding and bacteria growth. It's just as soft and bouncy as the Beauty Blender if not more. At first I felt like it sheered out my foundation too much. I used a full coverage foundation. You definitely have to bounce this on the face to have coverage. You can't swipe. I used this for everything I could think of, foundation, concealer, cream contour and highlighting. It worked very well. The bottom right picture is just foundation (and intense brows) no powder or anything. So it's just the work of the real techniques sponge. I really do like it. It stays damp and usable longer than a Beauty Blender. A Beauty Blender I feel gives a bit better coverage. The Real Technique sponge stains very easily. I washed it right after I used it and it wouldn't come completely clean from my concealer. Not a big deal in all actuality but if that bothers you then, there ya go. Just a heads up. Also you can use a coupon at Ulta which is $3.50 off $10 purchase which saves you even more money. This is the look after the rest of my makeup. It done very well . It looked even more beautiful after several hours.
We've already discussed some of the Holiday sets from Sephora. More have released and I wanted to give you some gift ideas in different price ranges of things that might be "the perfect gift" for certain someones. These are mainly makeup related but there are tons of skin care sets as well that would be good gift ideas too.
This next set is the over $20- $40 range.
This set is $40 and above.

Keep in mind, that the Friends and Family sale will be in November. That's 20% off your purchase. Links are provided for each set to take you directly to the page their on, on the Sephora website. All images are from Sephora, obviously. This is a Lisa Frank puppy inspired Halloween look. Google it and you'll see why I have a brush in my mouth. lol This was really easy. All you do is:
This is a scarecrow. You can choose to paint your face white or just use foundation.
This was actually inspired from an Instagram picture I seen fro @amyrichardsmakeup. It looked so Tim Burton. I have no other makeup on in this so it's just a rough draft. I would make my face very pale though in this and maybe use some white mascara or something. To keep the Tim Burton vibe alive! The trickiest part of this is making the shadows of the legs which make it look 3D, make sure you're using actual shadow to do it and actual liner on the lips to make them very black. Gel liner for the legs. This look is easy because its meant to be messy. It's easier than it looks.
Next installment in my wearable Halloween looks is Purple and Green. So first up is a perfect Halloween look in my opinion. The above picture is just using the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix palette mainly. I used a black base to make it super dark purple I added a white base under the green part. I also added a touch of orange to blend above the purple which doesn't look orange at all it just makes the purple pop a little more cause they are complementary colors on the color wheel. It's a dramatic eye so I made it straight and harsh with a winged liner and cleaned up around it. I used Iconic lashes from House of Lashes. Lip gloss is Dainty from ABH. Next is an even more wearable purple look. The top lid is more neutral you could use what ever you wanted like gold or copper, peach, or even brown the bottom lash line is the pop of color so I used MUG Wisteria and duo chrome in Black Light over top to make it "glow". Lashes are House of Lashes "Boudoir" . Lip are again Dainty from ABH but Vintage would be good too. I like mauve lips to make it more wearable. This last look is a wearable green look. I'm using MUG shadows in Cocoa Bear, Creme Brulee, and Mocha in the crease to make it very warm. Then I used Typhoon duo-chrome. Which is a golden green, on the entire lid and lash line. Boudoir lashes from House of Lashes. Lips are ABH Pure Hollywood lipstick and Gilded gloss.
You can obviously go more extreme or brighter with any of these looks. I know that some people aren't comfortable with that and I want you to feel good and confident in your makeup so I wanted to add some really wearable looks. The next and last installment is going to be BLACK. It's Halloween season and you don't want, or can't dress up for work or what have you but you still want to be festive. It's the perfect time to play with colors and get out of your comfort zone with makeup. So I'm doing a series of Halloween appropriate wearable makeup by color. This one being Orange, obviously. The look above it s a brown smokey eye with an Orange foiled look. I used the Morphe 35 Smokey palette for this. I'm not sure if that's still what it's called but it's a very colorful palette that has a range of mattes and shimmers of all colors. So I use mainly browns and then put shimmery or foiled browns over top of that on the outer half, then I used a foiled copper color and then a foiled orange. You can go straight into foiled orange though. Mine is really smokey your don't have to make yours as smokey if you don't want but I do recommend using the orange on the lower lash line because it's very pretty. I used House of Lashes Iconic lashes. Then I went with a burgundy lip which is ABH liquid lipstick in Vamp. This look is really really dramatic. It's for my girls that have a steady hand and more time. It's a cut you like a knife crease, harsh winged liner and glitter. For the crease I used: MUG: Corrupt, Mocha, and Poppy (Mocha first to trace out the wing in the crease, Poppy to blend and use above the line you just drew, corrupt to go back in and darken that wing from where it's been blended slightly.) On the lid: MUG Hologram duochrome pigment with a wet flat stiff straight line brush and placed all the way to the end of the crease wing Violet Voss glitter in Rosalind Immortal Gel Liner from MUG but any black gel liner will work and I bring it up and connect it to that crease wing. Lilly Lashes in Mykonos Lower Lashline: Poppy used first and the Corrupt over top Lips: Colour Pop: Pacific This last look is really glamorous and pretty but still festive.
Eyes: ABH shadows in Violet, China Rose, Bengal, and Fresh Peach. (Violet is on the inner and outer corners of the lid. China Rose in the center for a halo eye. Bengal and Fresh Peach in the crease) Beauty Bar Baby Glitter: Fantasy gllitter (gorgeous) Lilly Lashes in Mykonos Lips: ABH Lovely liquid lipstick and Vintage gloss. I know this has been out for a while but I decided to get the Makeup Forever Ultra HD stick foundation. The fluid is good but it's more medium coverage and this is more full coverage. Plus, I was intrigued with it being a stick.
So I got my normal shade which is 117 and that's Marble in the new formula. I expected it to be thicker and heavier but it's not at all. It's actually quite thin. It blends so good. Most stick foundations are very dry this is not. Which leads me to my next part: it's very dewy. I'm not an incredibly oily person but this gets really dewy on me. It's not something I could wear in the summer. It definitely not something I would put on anyone else that was oily. So this is the perfect winter foundation for normal skin types and great all around foundation for dry skin types. If you're oily just don't get it. I'll be honest. I really love this, and I like it better than the Ultra HD fluid for sure. Like I said when it's winter and my skin is more dry this is going to be my go to foundation. This is $43 I got mine from Frends Beauty but it's also available at Sephora. |
